Furr Helpers
Karen
Veterinary Technician
Karen has been a dedicated member of Countryside Veterinary Center since 1999. She earned her certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician from Blue Ridge Community College in 2008. Born and raised in Amelia, she still calls it home, where she lives with her husband and two amazing children.
A true animal lover, Karen couldn’t imagine life without her furry companions. She enjoys spending time outdoors and making memories with family and friends.
As a Fear Free Certified Professional, she specializes in creating a stress-free environment for animals, ensuring every encounter is as calm and comfortable as possible.
Kathy
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist
Born and raised in Amelia, Kathy Reames has been a dedicated member of the Countryside Veterinary Center team since 2001. With a special knack for keeping Chihuahuas calm and happy, she brings patience and care to every furry friend she meets. When she’s not at the clinic, Kathy loves spending time with her family, especially her five wonderful grandchildren.
Torie
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist
Torie became a valued member of our team after graduating from Matoaca High School in June 2017. She lives in Chesterfield County with her husband, Hayden, and their lively pack of pets. Three playful cats, Sebastian, Coal, and Brim, along with three beloved dogs, Daisy Duke, Dewalt, and Suzuki. In her free time, Torie loves being on the water with family and friends, whether it’s relaxing or fishing.
Amanda
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist
Amanda Foster became a valued member of our team in the fall of 2022. A native of Amelia County, VA, she now resides in Nottoway County with her husband, Craig, and their two children, Virginia and Levi. Amanda has a passion for homesteading and loves spending time outdoors. When she’s not at work, she’s busy caring for her family’s hobby farm, home to pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats.
Jessica Heitzman
CFO (Clinic Manager, General Bill Payer)
Jessica Heitzman has a background in libraries and education, which means she’s great at organizing, budgeting, and knowing just enough about veterinary medicine to be a little dangerous — but not enough to actually do anything hands-on! She jumped at the chance to work with her husband and a family veterinary clinic.
Jessica loves being part of the clinic and considers the staff, clients, and patients like extended family. She’s always ready with a warm hug, a friendly chat, and maybe even a piece of chocolate (because everything is better with chocolate).
When she’s not at the clinic, Jessica is usually shuttling her two kids from one activity to the next, watching the dogs zoom around the backyard, or cleaning up after the cats — because, let’s be honest, that job never ends. She’s excited to become more involved in the community and looks forward to getting to know each family and their beloved fur babies.
